Punjab registers record 1741 fresh Covid cases, 37 deaths

Chandigarh, Aug 20 (UNI) Punjab on Thursday registered record 1741 fresh Covid-19 cases and 37 deaths, taking the infection tally to 37,824 and the death toll to 957 in the state.
According to an official health bulletin, the deadly virus claimed ten lives in Ludhiana district, five each in Patiala, SAS Nagar and Sangrur, three in Jalandhar, two each in Amritsar, SBS Nagar and Hoshiarpur and one life each in Gurdaspur, Kapurthala and Muktsar districts today.
It said that 398 fresh cases have been reported from Ludhiana district, 242 from Jalandhar, 169 from SAS Nagar, 148 from Bathinda, 133 from Ferozepur, 94 from Moga, 81 from Patiala, 75 from Amritsar, 58 from Barnala, 46 from Fazilka, 41 from Faridkot, 33 each from Fatehgarh Sahib and Ropar, 32 from Tarn Taran, 28 from Sangrur, 22 from Pathankot, 20 each from Muktsar and Gurdaspur, 19 from Kapurthala, 18 each from Mansa and Hoshiarpur and 13 new cases from SBS Nagar district.
