Hamirpur (HP), Jan 2 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh recorded 83 fresh cases of coronavirus on Saturday, state Health Department said.
Besides, one person in Shimla also lost his life due to the dreaded coronavirus.
A spokesman of the HP Health Department said that the number of active cases in the state had also risen to 474.
Similarly, the number of total confirmed cases has also gone up to 2, 28,940 and that of the total cured cases to 2, 24,581.
He said that the total number of fatalities in the state had also risen to 3,860.
The spokesman said that a maximum number of thirty-four cases were reported from Kangra district. Thirteen cases were found from the districts of Solan and Shimla.
Those who were found positive in Kangra included one dozen army personnel and their children and this is a matter of great concern as more children have also been found in Saturday's list.
Meanwhile, the Health Department has started the work for the vaccination of children in the age groups of (15-18) years by finalizing the places where these children will be vaccinated.
In Hamirpur district, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Debasweta Banik last evening and a list of the schools was finalized there in which the children would be vaccinated on a daily basis. The CMO, Hamirpur, and other officers of the department were also present in the meeting.
It was told in the meeting that the registration of children for vaccination would be done on the spot. For this, children will have to bring an Aadhar card or government identity card, or mobile number of parents with them. If a child does not have an identity card, he/she will have to inform his/her teacher. The registration time will be from 10 am to 1 pm.
She said that the vaccination will be done on a 'first come, first get' basis.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that in the first phase of vaccination, a target has been fixed to vaccinate about 4,000 children in the age group of 15 to 18 years in the district every day.
In all, a total number of 28,528 children of this age group would be covered in the district. Of these, 18,518 are children studying in government schools and 10,010 in private schools.
She clarified that the vaccines will be given only to children born before December 31, 2007. The Deputy Commissioner said that after twenty-eight days of the first dose, the second dose would also be given to these children.
