Bijnore, Apr 8 (UNI) Five people were killed and four others were critically injured in a blast that occurred in Bakshiwala area on Thursday.
Police here said that one Yusuf was running an illegal cracker manufacturing factory in Bukhara village in Bakshiwala area where the explosion occurred.
The explosion was so severe that a part of the house was completely destroyed, while the bodies of five labourers have been found completed burnt. Four seriously injured people have been admitted to the district hospital.
A total of nine laborers were working in the house and there was a sudden fire in the gunpowder, which caused a tremendous explosion. In this explosion, a part of the house was razed and five labourers died on the spot. The other four working there were critically injured.
Superintendent of Police(SP) Dr Dharamvir Singh informed that the factory owner Yusuf has been arrested, who is also a licensed fire cracker seller.
The deceased have been identified as Chintu (21), Pradeep (25), Sonu (22 ), Vedpal alias Virendra (45) and Brajpal (45). The injured are Samarpal, Aman, Prince and Rahul.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognisance of the case of the death of five people in a firecracker explosion in Bijnore.
Expressing condolences, he directed officers to provide all assistance at the local level. Along with this, the senior officers were also instructed to help the victims as much as possible by staying on the spot.
Mr Adityanath has also called for an early probe report of this accident.
