Fire breaks out in congested Sona Wali Gali in Ambala City

Ambala, Nov 15 (UNI) Fire broke out in a congested street named Sona wali Gali in Ambala City on the night of Diwali Saturday. The street is used by the wholesale grocery dealers and material worth crore of rupees is stored. Last night a store on the third floor caught fire at around 9.52 in the night. The fire spread within minutes reducing the inflamable material (gota kanari) to ashes. The shopkeepers were agitated against the fire brigade who reached the spot late by more than half an hour and by that time the maretial was burnt. The owner Mathra Dass said that he had suffered loss of crores of rupees. He said that the material stored in the room included the currency note garlands used in marriages.
The Fire Brigade Officer said that they had received the mobile call at around 9.55 and the fire tender reached the spot immediately. He said that the Brigade staff faced difficulty in dousing the fire because the vehicles were not able to reach the spot and had to work from a long distance. However, they had to fight the fire till 2 a.m. It is learnt that fire also spread to other stores but these were saved with timely action by the fire brigade.
The police who reached the spot said that the fire might have spread after some fireworks fell on the roof of store. The police said that the cause of fire was investigated.
