Lucknow, Oct 30 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday flagged off vehicles carrying over 1 lakh eco-friendly earthen diyas, made from cow dung to the holy city of Ayodhya.
"As the auspicious occasion of Diwali marks the triumph of good over evil, our festivals must be celebrated in a way that causes no harm to nature. I express my gratitude to PM Modi for enabling us to celebrate the ‘grand’ deepotsava at Ayodhya in an environment-friendly manner,” said the CM at his official residence.
He went on to say that usage of lamps made out of cow dung will not only protect the environment but also will promote the conservation of indigenous cattle in the country and will encourage the use of cow dung-based products during the forthcoming festival.
"This is an attempt to boost the ‘Vocal for Local’ concept of the Prime Minister and swadeshi movement," he added.
The eco-friendly earthen lamps made of cow dung have been prepared by the Rashtriya Godhan Mahasangh for the grand Deepotsava to be held at Ayodhya this Diwali.
Former Union minister and National Vice-president of Bharatiya Janata Party Radha Mohan Singh, BJP State President Swatantra Dev Singh, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Home Awanish Kumar Awasthi, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Information Navneet Sehgal and Principal Secretary to the CM Sanjay Prasad among others remained present during the occasion.
