UP plays big role in preserving the climate : Yogi

Lucknow, Oct 28(UNI) While pledging his support for climate protection, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, "by virtue of being the largest populous state, Uttar Pradesh plays a big role in preserving the climate".
The CM said that the steps taken by his government are testimony to the fact that the Yogi government has always been concerned about the issue of climate change and has worked rigorously towards improving it.
Highlighting the poor condition of the state, CM Yogi, while addressing the public at UP Climate Conference 2021, said, "When we came to power in 2017, National Green Tribunal (NGT) used to keep suggesting us to do some activities for the betterment of the climate. As our first step, we closed down all the illegal slaughterhouses, which was the root cause behind many diseases. We also faced some friction in the beginning but eventually, people started coming to us to appreciate this act, and also requested us to close such illegal slaughterhouses in their localities too.”
