PETA India, UP Police, and Locals Rescue Jackal From Well

Sonebhadra, Oct 19(UNI) Following a call from a concerned citizen, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India coordinated with officers from the Uttar Pradesh Police Department and local villagers to rescue a golden jackal who had fallen into a deep well in Sonbhadra recently.

PETA India Lead Emergency Response Coordinator Deepak Chaudhary coordinated from Mumbai with the local police, who rushed to the scene and found the exhausted jackal, who'd been trapped for several hours, struggling to stay afloat in the well. With the help of kind locals, the police managed to lower a net into the well, scoop up the animal, and haul him or her up with ropes. The jackal, who was unharmed, took off upon reaching solid ground.

Yogi govt to provide free foodgrain to weaker sections and poor in UP, Corona curfew extended for a week

Lucknow, May 15 (UNI) In a major decision, the Yogi Adityanath government on Saturday announced to provide three Kgs of wheat and two Kgs of rice per unit to eligible Antyodaya and household ration card holders for three months on the state.
"The decision has been taken in view of the hardship being faced by the poor and needy people in the situation arising out of the Covid. It will benefit about 15 crore people of the state,' said the Chief Minister while presiding over a meeting of the council of ministers here through virtual medium here.
In another decision to provide relief to daily wage earners of urban areas, the UP government decided to provide a maintenance allowance of Rs. 1,000 for one month to the poor and weaker sections of the society. The beneficiary, about one crore in number, included small shopkeepers, daily wage labourers, rickshaw / e-rickshaw pullers, palledars ,barbers, washermen, cobblers, confectioners etc.
