Lucknow, May 13 (UNI) Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday gave credit for Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) bumper victory in the municipal elections to the hard work of the workers and better coordination between the government and the organisation and said the party got the mandate due to the environment of good governance, development and security in Uttar Pradesh.
While talking to the reporters after celebrating the party's victory in all 17 municipal corporations in the state at BJP office, Yogi said that the party has been able to win with full majority in all the 17 Municipal Corporations for the first time. "The credit for this victory goes to the hard work of the party workers and better coordination between the government and the organisation. This is the biggest victory of BJP under the leadership and efficient guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi," he said.
He claimed that BJP is going to get more than double the number of seats in Nagar Palika Parishads as compared to 2017, whereas in Nagar Panchayats it is going to win more than two and a half times higher number of seats as compared to the last election.
The CM said that BJP had won 14 out of 16 municipal corporations while BSP got two seats, but this time the party not only captured all 16 seats but also won the newly created Shahjahanpur Municipal Corporation seat. "The population of a Municipal Corporation is between 5 to 50 lakh. It is a reflection of the public's faith in the schemes of the government that have been successful in improving the basic infrastructure in urban areas and in the precise implementation of smart city schemes.
He said that BJP got only 60 seats in 199 Nagar Palika Parishad elections in 2017, whereas this time the party is going to win more than twice as many seats as compared to the last time. "Similarly, in 543 Nagar Panchayats, BJP is registering victory on more than two and a half times higher number of seats as compared to 2017," he said
Yogi said that in the same way BJP had won 596 out of 1,420 seats of corporators in Municipal Corporation in 2017, while this time out of 794 results declared so far, 438 have gone in favour the party and it seems clear more than double number of corporators will register their presence in the corporations.
He said that the Apna Dal (S)-BJP alliance got a clear majority in the Suar and Chhanbey assembly by-polls as well. "The victory in the municipal and by-elections shows that the government's public interest schemes have been implemented in a better way," he said.
The CM said that the election was conducted in a peaceful manner for which the Election Commission deserves congratulations.
