Hamirpur, June 1(UNI) The HP Technical University located here has decided that it would waive off fifty percent charges other than the tuition fee from the students to give them relief in view of the Covid crisis.
However, this relief will be given only for the ongoing semester.
The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the Board of the Governors of the University held here on Monday. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Dr SP Bansal Vice-chancellor of the University through online mode.
A spokesman of the University said that the University had decided to conduct online examinations for the first time, which was most important for the students during the Corona period.
Technical University will be the first university in Himachal Pradesh that is going to conduct online examinations, it said.
The spokesman claimed that the Technical University has almost completed the preparations to make the examinations online, the exam dates will be announced soon.
It said that BOG had given permission for the starting of the classes of BCA, BBA in off-campus Nagrota Bagwan from the upcoming session, the permanent appointment of the posts of Estate Officer and Project Officers by the technical university, starting tech shop in Daruhi campus.
The BOG praised the work done in the last three years during the tenure of Technical University Vice-Chancellor, Prof SP Bansal.
The Vice-Chancellor of Technical University, Prof. SP Bansal, presiding over the meeting of BOG, said that during the current session, the admission process was done completely through online medium, now the examinations will also go through online mode only.
He said that in the coming times, efforts will be made to make practical of students through virtual labs.
The Vice-Chancellor said that the technical university is also going to make provision for teaching students in routine through the online medium for 20 percent of the courses. For the implementation of the National Education Policy, the Technical University will start multiple entry and exit and academic bank credit from the new session.
Almost all the members of BOG of Technical University raised the issue of giving recurring grant amounts every year by the State Government. The BOG passed a resolution to correspond with the State Government in this regard.
The BOG also raised a demand in the meeting for sanctioning the posts of teachers and non-teachers.
BOG member and Hamirpur MLA Narendra Thakur assured the meeting that he would take up their case with the Chief Minister shortly.
