Top Prirority of state govt to encourage higher education in state after mapping all colleges

Chandigarh, Aug 1 (UNI) Haryana Education Minister Kanwar Pal has said that it is the top priority of the State Government to encourage higher education in the State and after mapping all the colleges of the state, it was decided that at least one Government college will be opened within a radius of 20 km. In order to provide opportunities for higher education to the women of the State, Mr Manohar Lal will lay the foundation stone of 10 new women colleges on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan on August 3, 2020. With this, the number of colleges in the state will increase to 350.
Giving detailed information in this regard, the Minister said that at present there are 155 Government Colleges, 97 State Aided Colleges and 88 Self-financed Colleges in the State, while 10 Government Sector Universities, 22 Private Universities and two Government BEd colleges and 475 self-financed BEd colleges.
Mr. Kanwar Pal said that the new National Education Policy 2020 has been recently announced by the Central Government, in which radical changes have been made in the education system including school level, higher education level, technical as well as vocational education level to suit the global scenario of 21st century. He said that now every state will have to prepare a curriculum according to the new National Education Policy 2020.
