VB registers corruption case against SI for accepting Rs 5000 bribe

Chandigarh, Aug 2 (UNI) The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), as part of its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, has registered a corruption case against Boha police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Gurtej for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5000.
An official spokesperson of the state VB said the SI has been booked based on a complaint lodged by Parvinder Singh, of Sherkhan Wala village in Mansa district on the Chief Minister's Anti Corruption Action Line.
He further informed that the complainant has alleged in his complaint that a case was registered against his relatives at Boha police station and the SI has demanded illegal gratification of Rs 40,000 for helping the accused without police remand.
