Punjab cop held for taking Rs 20,000 bribe

Chandigarh, Sep 23 (UNI) A Punjab Police Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) posted at police station Patran, Patiala district, was arrested while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 for cancelling a case against the complainant, Punjab Vigilance Bureau said on Monday.
A spokesperson of the state VB said ASI Amrik Singh was arrested on a complaint by Ashok Kumar of Patran town.
Kumar said a case was registered against him and his associates at the Patran police station and the ASI was demanding a bribe of 20,000 to submit a cancellation report in court pertaining to his case.
