Cheating and criminal conspiracy in fraudulent vehicle transactions: 14 vehicles recovered

Dharamshala, Aug 6 (UNI) In a significant breakthrough in a major vehicle fraud case, the Kangra police have recovered 14 vehicles linked to FIR No. 02/2025, registered at Police Station Khundian Dehra on January 8, 2025, under Sections 420, 406, 120B, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code.
Dehra police district Superintendent of Police Mayank Choudhary told UNI that the case was lodged following a complaint by Ajay Kumar, a resident of Mahar village in Lagru, alleging cheating and criminal conspiracy involving fraudulent vehicle deals and initially, 10 vehicles were mentioned in the complaint, but during the course of the investigation, the number increased to 17. SSP Mayank said that so far, 15 vehicles have been recovered—14 under the current FIR and one related to a separate case registered at Police Station Chintpurani.
He said that the main accused, Ratneshwar Singh, a resident of Sukahar village in Tehsil Dehra, was arrested on April 2, 2025 as he had earlier surrendered at Police Station Chintpurani in connection with a similar matter.
