Cyber fraudsters impersonating as Finance Ministry officials booked in fraud case: Jammu Crime Branch

Jammu, Aug 29 (UNI) The sleuths of Jammu Crime Branch has registered a case against cyber fraudsters impersonating as officials of Finance Ministry and duping Rs 1.41 crores of Army Officer.
SSP Crime Branch, Shailendra Singh here said that FIR has been registered against a gang of Cyber fraudsters for duping the complainant namely Lt Col Sardar Singh Smotra of Gandhi Nagar to the tune of Rs 1.41 Cr through impersonation as officials of Ministry of Finance (GoI) by luring him to invest in a Canadian IPO (Initial Public Officer) to get Rs 10 crores as return after 16 years maturity.
A written complaint was received wherein it was alleged that he was trapped by a group of professional cheats who never met him but communicated telephonically and induced him to transfer money in instalments into their accounts through the RTGS.
