Lucknow, Sep 11 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed to take strict action against 19 officials of various departments, including the Home and Fire Department, who were found guilty of negligence in the recent investigation report of the Hotel Livana Suites fire incident in Lucknow.
In the order issued by the Chief Minister's Office late on Saturday, on the basis of the investigation report, Yogi has directed to take strict action against the officials who were found to be irregular and negligent. These include retired officials who were negligent in allowing the hotel to comply with various safety standards.
This action has been taken on the basis of the inquiry report of the two-member committee of Divisional Commissioner and Police Commissioner of Lucknow. The committee submitted its report to the Home Department on Saturday. On the basis of the report, the officers of Home, Energy, Appointment, LDA and Excise Department will be punished. Departmental action will be taken against all the officers found guilty.
The officials found guilty include four officers including the then Fire Officer of the Home Department Sushil Yadav, three officers including Assistant Director (Electrical Security) Vijay Kumar Rao of the Energy Department and Mahendra Kumar Mishra, PCS Officer of the Appointment Department (Lucknow Development Authority). Apart from this, action will be taken against eight officers including Rakesh Mohan, then Assistant Engineer of Lucknow Development Authority in Housing and Urban Planning Department and three officers including Santosh Kumar Tiwari, then District Excise Officer of Lucknow in Excise Department.
Significantly, on September 5, a fire broke out in Hotel Liwana Suites located in Hazratganj, a busy area of the city, due to an electrical short circuit. Four people, including two women, were killed and eight others were injured. The police have registered a case in this case and arrested three people including the owner and general manager of the hotel and sent them to jail.
