Farmer commits suicide due to crop damage in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, Oct 5 (UNI) Amid ongoing farmers agitation in several parts of country, a farmer in Chief Minister’s home district Durg committed suicide due to crop damage.
According to information given by family sources a young farmer in Matrodih (Machandur) in Durg district Durgesh Nishad hanged himself to death with a tree in his farmland on being upset at crop damage despite spraying pesticide three times. In his suicide note he wrote that he had sprayed pesticide thrice to save crops. He said that he was committing suicide due to damage to his crops.
When the news prominently flashed in the media the home minister Tamradhwaj Sahu visited the village of the deceased farmer and gave solace to the grief-stricken family. Expressing grief at the incident he assured the father and brother of the deceased farmer of providing all possible assistance. He also announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh to the family of the deceased farmer.
