Jaipur, Dec 12 (UNI) The Congress on Wednesday evening formally staked claim for formation of the next government in Rajasthan.
The newly elected party legislators accompanied by leaders, including state in charge AICC general secretary Avinash Pandey, former chief minister Ashok Gehlot and party state president Sachin Pilot called on Governor Kalyan Singh at Raj Bhawan here this evening and formally staked the party's claim to form the government.
'We have staked formally our claim before the Governor and conveyed to him that the name of the CLP leader and other relevant details would be submitted on Thursday", Mr Pandey told reporters later.
He said that the announcement about the legislature party(CLP) leader would be made by the party high command at New Delhi.
The day-long deliberations and two sessions of the CLP meeting devoted long hours to evolve view of the MLAs over choice of the CLP leader but still this needed the high command's intervention.
The party has won 99 seats in the new House with effective strength of 199 and claiming support of one ally RLD members and around ten Independents.
