Will talk to Sidhu, says CM Channi

Chandigarh, Sep 29 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Wednesday said he will talk to Navjot Singh Sidhu and denied any rift in the Congress party in the state.
This came at a press conference where Channi announced a massive waiver on electricity bills for the poor.
Channi, who had announced an electricity bill waiver soon after he took over the post, on Wednesday said all consumers who have less than 2 kilowatt consumption, will get a waiver on all pending electricity bills.
The amount of the dues will be paid by the government, Channi said it would be to the tune of Rs 1200 crore.
Asked about differences with Sidhu, he denied any rift and said he talked to Sidhu on Wednesday morning, and will talk to him again.
"I have spoken to Sidhu sahab over the telephone today. Party is supreme and the government accepts the party’s ideology and follows that. I told him you should come, sit and talk,” he told reporters in response to a question. "We will sit and talk and the issues will be resolved," he said.
Channi had said on Tuesday that Sidhu is not angry with him, and there are no issues between the two.
On Wednesday, breaking his silence almost a day after his resignation, Sidhu questioned appointments made by the Punjab government and said, "There was a system of tainted leaders, officers, now you cannot repeat the same system again. I will stand by my principles".
Channi defended the government's decisions and said, "I have no objection or any ego in anything".
Sidhu gave his resignation from the post of Punjab Congress Chief on Tuesday, which has not yet been accepted by the Congress high command.
On Wednesday morning Sidhu launched an attack on the Channi led government without naming him, and questioned the appointment of certain ministers some officials.
His resignation came days after Captain Amarinder Singh resigned as chief minister and was succeeded by Charanjit Singh Channi.
