Punjab Cabinet okays Rs 1.5 cr pa as recurring grant for 11 more constituent colleges

Chandigarh, Aug 25 (UNI) The Council of Ministers on Tuesday approved the release of Rs 75.75 crore Recurring Grant for 11 more constituent colleges at Rs 1.5 crore per college per annum from the year 2016-17 to 2020-21, to further improve the standard of Higher Education in Punjab.
The Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, also okayed regular budgetary provision of Rs 1.5 crore per annum per college for the subsequent year. With this, the total number of colleges to which the state government is paying recurring grant, has gone up to 30.
Of these colleges, three - University College, Dhuri (Sangrur); University College, Bahadurpur (Mansa) and University College, Barnala - are part of Punjabi University, Patiala.

Satna, MP, Oct 29 (UNI) Three persons died and a fourth was grievously injured on Thursday when a speeding truck heading here collided head-on with a couple of motorcycles on the Satna-Amarpatan road in the vicinity of Jarmohra village, law-enforcement authorities said.
The hurt individual was rushed to a nearby infirmary.

Bhopal, Oct 29 (UNI) Mourning the demise of Gujarat’s erstwhile chief minister Keshubhai Patel, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan described the event as an irreparable loss for the Bharatiya Janata Party.
“I pray for peace to the departed soul and fortitude to the grieving household for bearing the sorrow. Indeed, this day signifies the end of an era in Gujarat’s political sphere,” the senior politician conveyed via social media.

Rajgarh/Guna, MP, Oct 29 (UNI) Strafing the enemy camp, Madhya Pradesh’s erstwhile chief minister Uma Bharati on Thursday accused the Congress of earlier grabbing power through the medium of temptation plus deception.
“That very act eventually brought down the dispensation and it is impossible for that party to assume the reins again in this state,” averred the firebrand sadhvi who led the Bharatiya Janata Party to a historic victory in the 2003 Assembly polls.
