Seven new automatic RNA extraction machines to augment Covid testing capacity in Punjab

Chandigarh, Jul 22 (UNI) To further ramp up Covid testing capacity in the state, the Punjab Government will procure seven automatic RNA extraction machines for the viral testing labs at three Government Medical Colleges in Patiala, Amritsar and Faridkot, in addition to four more for the newly set-up viral testing labs in Mohali, Ludhiana and Jalandhar.
The Punjab Cabinet, which met on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, gave the go-ahead for the procurement of these machines within the next 3-4 weeks, amid increasing cases of Covid in the state.
The move is aimed at controlling the spread of the pandemic through increased testing by augmenting the state’s fight under Mission Fateh.

Chandigarh, Sep 18 (UNI) Haryana on Friday registered 2,488 new cases of COVID-19, while also recording 23 more fatalities due to the virus, taking the state's cumulative number of cases to 1,06,261 and death toll to 1092, the state health department said.

Lucknow, Sep 18 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said there was huge potential for the manufacturing of bulk drugs and medical equipment as there was huge spurt in demand for both the commodities following the pandemic.
Mr Adityanath said the state will have to take urgent measures for tapping the potential and medical device park have to be set up for the manufacture of the bulk drugs and medical equipment.

A presentation about the manufacture of the bulk drugs and medical equipment was made before the Chief Minister on Friday.
