Lucknow, Nov 28 (UNI) Accusing the BJP of carrying out a terror-like attack on the farmers protesting against the new agricultural laws, Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday said that rather than harassing the farmers, the Narendra Modi government at the Centre should mull on a law to double the income of farmers so that it can fulfill its election promise.
Mr Yadav told journalists that the BJP governments at the Centre and in the states have become the enemies of the peasants and the poor. The agricultural laws, made to help the corporates, will further deteriorate the condition of farmers who are already struggling and when they protest against these laws, terror-like attacks are being carried out on them.
The SP president averred that apart from taking back the agricultural laws, the government should also fulfill its election promise of doubling the farmers' income. But let alone the talk of doubling the income, the government is bent upon deteriorating the farmers' condition further by implementing a black law on them.
The former UP CM alleged that this government, which specializes in lying, is now selling highways. The amount of corruption that took place in the BJP's tenure has never been done before.
He claimed that after coming to power, his government will initiate a probe into the corruption done by the BJP. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath says that over 10,000 MW power will be generated from solar energy next year. This is another lie of BJP. They do not know how solar power generation will increase.
Earlier, several leaders and office-bearers of the BSP assumed the membership of the Samajwadi Party (SP). Mr Yadav welcomed everyone. Liyaqat Ali, Ram Dulare Bhargav, Abdul Rashid and Arjun Singh, the president of the Pradhan Sangh, were among those who assumed the membership.
