Lucknow, Mar 16 (UNI) Shyama Charan Gupta, a sitting BJP Lok Sabha member from Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday declared officially Samajwadi Party candidate from Banda LS seat.
SP sources here on Saturday said that the party high command has announced Shyama Charan Gupta as the party candidate from Banda seat.

Gupta, a businessman, had earlier won Banda LS seat on SP ticket in 2004 elections.

Before the 2014 polls, Gupta switched over to BJP and won the polls defeating Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi of the Congress, who is now the minister in the BJP government.
The sitting BJP member was set to be 'denied ticket' hence he had switched over to his old political outfit.
