Lucknow, Aug 21 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Assembly, which was slated to take up 17 Bills and other legislative agenda on Friday, was adjourned till tomorrow due to sudden death of BJP member Janmejai Singh.
Speaker Hridya Narain Dikshit informed the Assembly that an all party meeting this morning has decided to suspend all the agenda for today to pay condolences to the MLA.
BJP MLA from Deoria Sadar seat Janmejai Singh passed away due to heart attack at a hospital here late Thursday night. He was 75.
The Speaker announced that all the agenda of today would be taken up tomorrow (Saturday) from 1100 hours.
Now, the house was adjourned for the second consecutive day due to death of the sitting members.
In the house, a condolence resolution was moved by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath terming the BJP MLA as a big leader of Deoria district, who worked for the people of his area.
The CM was joined by SP leader Shailendra Yadav, BSP leader Lalji Verma, Congress leader Aradhana Mishra, SBSP leader Om Prakash Rajbhar and Apna Dal leader.
The Speaker Hridya Narain Dikshit extended his condolences over the MLA's demise. Later, the house observed a 2 minutes silence for the departed soul.
The House was adjourned till tomorrow 1100 hours.
Mr Dikshit said that it unfortunate that the house had to condole the death of five sitting members in this session, which never happened in the past.
