Several Congressmen taken into custody before foot march in Lko

Lucknow, Nov 5 (UNI) Police detained several protesters, including the daughter of poet Munawwar Rana, before the Congress protest against the harassment of women, inflation, irregularities in paddy procurement and increase in power prices in the state capital on Thursday.
The workers of the state Congress were about to take out a foot march from the Parivartan Chowk to the Assembly over the issues of the law and order situation, the state, women harassment, inflation and increase in the electricity prices. Heavy police force had been deployed at the Parivartan Chowk due to the same.
Mahanagar Congress Committee president Mukesh Singh Chauhan and District Congress president Ved Prakash Tripathi, who were coming for the protest, were first detained by the police in front of the Begum Hazrat Mahal Park. Later, other workers were simultaneously taken into custody.
