Rajasthan mandis remain closed in protest against agriculture ordinance

Jaipur, Aug 26 (UNI) As many as 247 "mandis" of Rajasthan remained closed on second straight day on Wednesday in protest against the Centre's recent ordinance allowing farmers to sell their produce outside markets.
The protest, carried under the banner of Rajasthan Khadya Padarth Vyapar Sangh, a farmers' rights organisation, will continue till August 28, Friday, a leader of the organisation said.
As per the outfit's head Babulal Gupta, Farming Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Ordinance, 2020, will render the workers in Mandi jobless as farmers might sell their produce to outsiders.
