Jaipur, Jul 27 (UNI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot here on Monday participated in a "peaceful" protest against alleged attempts by the Bharatiya Janata Party to topple the state government and refusal from the Governor to bring the Assembly in session.
The protest was carried out inside Fairmount hotel on the outskirts of the pink city where MLAs supporting the Chief Minister are being holed up for past few weeks.
As per a video shared by Mr Gehlot on his twitter handle, he, along with other legislators, is seen sitting peacefully in a large hall of the hotel maintaining social distancing.
Patriotic and religious songs were sung and prayer meeting was held under the banner of "save democracy, save constitution."
Later, the Chief Minister garland idols of few visionaries in Indian history.
The Congress party has given the call for protest on Sunday.
Mr Gehlot has failed to impress upon Governor Kalraj Mishra in bringing Assembly in session.
On Monday, he sent a yet another proposal to the Governor to call the House, which was again rejected.
A fierce battle between the Chief Minister and the Governor is going on in the desert with the former seeking an Assembly session and the latter dissatisfied over the grounds to convene it.
