789 people fined, 169 arrested for violating COVID curfew in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 17 (UNI) As many as 789 people were fined while 169 others were arrested during the last 24 hours in Kashmir valley for violating COVID curfew and other guidelines imposed by the administration to curtail the spread of the virus.

A J&K police spokesperson on Monday said that since the outbreak of second wave of Coronavirus, police have enhanced its efforts to sensitise the masses about controlling the highly contagious infection. ''Slew of measures, including restrictions under section 144 CrPC, have been put into place to contain the spread of Covid-19,'' he said.
