Jaunpur, Nov 10 (UNI) The jobs of as many as 290 policemen above the age of 50 are under threat in Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur, these include 90 Inspectors and about 200 Head Constables and Constables.
Superintendent of Police Rajkaran Naiyyar on Tuesday said that on the directions of the government, the district level screening committee has sent the complete departmental details relating to the tenure of 290 policemen above the age of 50 to the Inspector General of Police Varanasi Zone where further action will be taken.
Notably, the state government is engaged in overhauling the police department. In view of the same, an account of the entire service period of those policemen above the age of 50, whose functioning has tainted the image of the department or those who are unable to serve, has been prepared.
The account includes instances of when they were suspended for corruption or indiscipline during service, when they were attached to the police lines and which departmental actions were initiated against them. The list has not been made public yet.
