UP: 106 women taking benefit of widow pension scheme in fraud manner

Badaun, Oct 14 (UNI) A major scam was exposed in the Widow Pension scheme as 106 women are allegedly taking benefit of the same showing that their husbands are dead here, District Probation Officer Santosh Kumar said on Wednesday.
Mr Kumar here said that amongst these women, most are those who got remarried. He said that their pensions are being stopped and the action for recovery is being initiated.
Apart from this, the pension of 891 women is being stopped after their deaths. After the matter came to light, District Magistrate Kumar Prashant said that several complaints were received and they are being investigated. Some women are availing pension after showing that their husbands are dead.
