Ahead of 48-hour-long COVID lockdown, prices of essentials skyrocket in Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 29 (UNI) The prices of all essential commodities -- including meat, chicken, milk, fruits and vegetables -- have skyrocketed as people go for panic buying ahead of commencement of 84-hour-long lockdown from Thursday evening amid unabated rise in the number of fresh COVID-19 cases and deaths in Kashmir valley.

''There was absolutely no check on the prices of essential commodities by the Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs department (FCS&CA),'' people in the summer capital, Srinagar, told UNI.
