Computers should be arranged at community centres for members of women SHGs: CS

Chandigarh, Oct 30 (UNI) Haryana Chief Secretary Vijai Vardhan has said that computers should be arranged in the community centres for the members of women self-help groups (SHGs) built in the villages so that women associated with these groups can get basic knowledge about computers. Besides this, more such places should be identified where these groups can run canteens.
The Chief Secretary said this during a review meeting of the schemes of Rural Development and Development and Panchayat Departments here on Friday. The Principal Secretary of these two departments, Mr. Sudhir Rajpal, briefed the Chief Secretary through the power point presentation regarding main schemes being run by these Departments. Director of the Department, Mr. Hardeep Singh and other senior officials were also present in the meeting.
During this meeting, Chief Secretary, Mr. Vijai Vardhan was apprised that under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA), 93.14 lakh person-days were achieved by September 2020 and ensured employment for 100 days to 4.89 lakh persons during the financial year 2020-2021. Under this scheme, there is a target to construct 40,000 animal sheds during the year 20-2021 under the individual category. Similarly under community category, horticultural plantation on 100 acres per district on panchayati land, widening of 200 traditional ponds per district, constructing 5 worksheds per block at Rs 2 lakhs per shed for women self-help groups.
