Popular Monday market of Ambala Cantt could not held due to dispute

Ambala, July 27(UNI) Popular Monday market of Ambala Cantt could not be held on Monday due to dispute between the phari walas and the municipal administration on the issue of number persons for giving permission. The MC had given permission to only 107 against 250-300 applicants. The phariholders alleged that the MC discriminated in issuing permission and only 107 selected persons were permitted to install their pharies.
The Monday market was to be opened today after 4 months because it remained non functional due to lock down under Covid-19 impact. The phariholders alleged that they were not allowed to work in the market by the MC authorities on excuse of certain conditions which were not acceptable to them. The main condition was of distancing in holding the pharies which reduced the number in the allotted area of Parking Lot behind Rai Market. The site was selected because the market remains closed on Monday. Earlier, it used to held in the sprawling Gandhi Grounds where construction work is in progress. MC Secretary Rajesh Kumar said that the number in allotment was reduced because of new parameters of distancing brought in due to coronavirus. He said that allegation of discrimination was baseless and the sites had been allotted to those who fulfilled the terms and conditions laid by the MC.
