Nine killed in Pilibhit road accident, Yogi announces Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia to kin of deceased

Pilibhit, Oct 17 (UNI) At least nine people were killed and 30 others were injured when an Uttar Pradesh government bus hit an SUV in Seramau area here on early Saturday morning.

Superintendent of police (SP) Jai Prakash said here that the UPSRTC bus was going towards Pilibhit from Lucknow when it collided with a pickup van at around 0250 hrs.

After the collision, both the bus and pickup van overturned near Bari Bujiya village.

In the accident, five male and two women died on the spot while the child, a 12-year-old boy from Lucknow along with the driver of the bus succumbed to his injury in the hospital.

The injured 30 people have been admitted to the hospital where the condition of 10 people was stated to be critical.

Police said four deceased have been identified so far which included a couple from Lucknow along with a native of Nepal and Bahriach respectively.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed condolence on the death of the people on the accident and announced an ex gratia payment of Rs 5 lakh each to the family of the deceased while directing district officials to provide good treatment to the injured.

Lt Governor inaugurates modernized, upgraded Govt Silk Weaving Factory in Srinagar

Srinagar, Aug 5 (UNI) Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday inaugurated a modernized and upgraded Government Silk Weaving Factory in the summer capital, Srinagar, marking an important step towards the revival and holistic development of the silk industry in Jammu and Kashmir

An official spokesperson said that the Government Silk Weaving Factory was established in the year 1937 and has been in operation since then. “Over a period of time, most of the machinery had become obsolete and the factory suffered huge damage to the infrastructure in the floods of 2014,” he said.

Himachal HC vacates stay on permitted felling, lopping of trees

Shimla, Aug 5 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh High Court has vacated the stay of all valid permissions granted for felling or lopping of trees by the appropriate authority.
The Court, however, directed that no tree and not even a single branch of any tree shall be cut under any circumstances without any authority of law.
