UP: 10 killed in tractor-truck collision, CM announces ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh

Mirzapur (UP), Oct 4 (UNI) Ten youths were killed and three others injured when a tractor collided with a truck in the Kachhwa area of Mirzapur district here in Uttar Pradesh, a police officer said on Friday.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while condoling the incident, has directed to provide a financial assistance of Rs lakh each to kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhinandan said that the incident took place around 1 am when labourers were returning to their houses from Varanasi on a tractor. "On Prayagraj Highway, the tractor collided with the truck coming from Aurai," he said.
He said 10 people travelling on the tractor were killed on the spot.
"Those killed have been identified as Bhanu (25), Vikas (30), Anil (35), Suraj Kumar (22), Sanohar (25), Rakesh Kumar (25), Nitin (22), Roshan Kumar (25), Prem Kumar (40), and Rahul Kumar (26)," he said.
The SP said three injured, including Jamuuni (26), Akash (18), and Ajay, have been referred to Varanasi for treatment in a serious condition.
Meanwhile, the CM has taken cognisance of the road accident in Mirzapur district and has expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased. He has directed that the injured should be taken to the hospital immediately and directed the district administration officials to provide them proper treatment. Along with this, he also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Agitated by the incident, the local residents blocked the road. The SP along with heavy police force reached the spot and pacified the mob.
