India's first-ever National Yogasana sports championship begins with 560 young athletes

Bhubaneswar, Nov 11 (UNI) India’s first Physical National Yogasana Sports Championships begins here on Thursday with a gala opening ceremony.
The competition is a stepping stone in the direction of making Yogasana a part of the prestigious Olympics platform.
The championship was kick-started today with a vibrant and enthralling opening ceremony in presence of 560 bright, talented, and young athletes from 30 states aiming high for 50 medals in a uniquely designed competition.
Organised by the National Yogasana Sports Federation (NYSF) in association with the Government of Odisha from November 11th to 13 the competition is a stepping stone in the direction of making Yogasana a part of the prestigious Olympics platform.
Speaking on the occasion NYSF President Udit Sheth said “We want to make Yogasana India’s Heritage Sports Brand for the world”
The structure of the championship for Yogasana as a sport has been uniquely curated, he said while expressing his gratification with the huge participation from all over the country.
“It is truly an experience to be in the presence of such talented athletes, coaches, and experts and hope to take Yogasana sport on to the global stage, ” Mr Sheth said.
He thanked the OdishaGovernment for their overwhelming support in hosting the Yogasana Championship.
The event has been conceptualised with the aim to create a global brand of Yogasana as a competitive Sport and support India’s vision to make Yogasana a sport with an Olympic Roadmap.
Secretary, Sports & Youth Services R. Vineel Krishna said Yogasana is one of the finest mediums of fitness and wellness adding that a world-class platform has been collated to promote it in the youth of India and the globe.”
NYSF Secretary-General Dr Jaideep Arya said “Health and fitness should be of utmost priority and there is no better discipline than Yoga.
NYSF, he said, is working with a vision to build and market the brand of Yogasana through sustainable and scalable development and a competition structure that benefits the athletes, officials.
