New Delhi, Nov 19 (UNI) The winter session of the Rajya Sabha will be held from December 11, 2018 to January 8, 2019.
A release from the Rajya Sabha secretariat said that "the President has summoned the Rajya Sabha to meet on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at new Delhi. Subject to exigencies of business, the session is scheduled to conclude on January 8, 2019.'
The Cabinet committee for Parliamentary Affairs had recommended to the President that the Winter session of Parliament be held from December 11 to January 8.
Usually the Winter session of Parliament is held in the second week of November . However, it is believed that the Government has decided to call the session from December 11 as most of the MPs would be busy in the elections to the five state assemblies of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram.
The elections are to be held from November 12 to December 7. The counting of votes will be held on December 11.
