New Delhi, Jul 22 (UNI) Expressing concern on jUttar pradesh ournalist Vikram Joshi's death on Wednesday after being shot for objecting to harrassment of his niece , Congress on Wednesday said that the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has failed miserabely to curtail crime in the state.
Addressing the press , Congress leader and former journalist Supriya Shrinate, slamming the state government , said that
t UP has officially become the 'crime capital' of the country.
Pointing towards the increasing crime agaisnt women, she accused Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of being
a mute spectator to the increasing crime in the state.
' It's alomst a curse to be a woman in Uttar Pradesh,' she said while commenting on the current scenario of crime against women in the state.
Expressing Concern on the attack on the journalist , she said , 'What was Joshi's fault . He was trying to protect his niece from harassment from a goon, a chargesheeted person.'
She said that the chief Minister must come out and answer questions about the collapsing law and order system in the state.
She said that 84 MLAs of the current dispensation have serious criminal cases registered against them.
'How come the government claims to be stern against crme,', she questioned.
Accusing the BJP of defending the nexus between politicians and goons, she pointed out that the controversial Vikas Dubey encounter allegedly took place to prevent unearthing this nexus and patronage given to the goons and the overall system.Shrinate said the government is intoxicated with power and is shielding criminals while people , especially women are living under fear every passing day.
Replying to a question , she said how will people in the RSS , , where there is no place for women , understand the gravity of the impact and such incidents against women.
