Delhi Metro services resume on Line-2, Rapid Metro, approx 7500 passengers avail metro services in first 4 hrs

New Delhi, Sep 7 (UNI) DMRC resumed its services on Yellow Line and Rapid Metro after 169 days, as per the graded resumption plan, from 0700 hrs on Monday.
The Delhi Metro resumed its services this morning on Line-2 (Yellow Line) from Samaypur Badli to HUDA City Centre including Rapid Metro, Gurugram at 0700 hrs with all safety measures in place to check the spread of COVID-19 in the Metro premises, which requires everyone to follow a new normal of social distancing, face mask and hand sanitisation.
'Operations in the first four hours from 0700 hrs to 1100 hrs was smooth with approx 7500 passengers availing the services,' a DMRC spokesperson said.
DMRC got complete cooperation from its commuters who availed the services for the first time in 169 days with all new norms of Metro travel in place owing to the ongoing pandemic, the spokesperson said.
'DMRC will also take all possible measures to ensure that services are smooth in the evening four hours (from 1600 hrs to 2000 hrs) as well,' the spokesperson said.
On the first day of the resumption of services, DMRC's Director of Operations, Mr AK Garg, travelled by the Metro from Malviya Nagar to Rajiv Chowk. He checked DMRC's preparedness and also interacted with the passengers.
Tallking to mediapersons, he said, ' Today I travelled from Malviya Nagar to Rajiv Chowk. I am happy that the passengers are confident about travelling in Delhi Metro. We have made all possible arrangements to make travel safe for the commuters.'
The metro services in the NCR region were suspended from March 22 following the outbreak of COVID-19 in India.
