IATO seeks immediate relief from govt to survive

New Delhi, Sep 7 (UNI) Indian Association of Tour Operators has sought immediate government relief for its survival as the Tourism sector which once contributed about 9 per cent to the GDP, is facing an existential crisis with no ray of hope in sight.
No sector in the economy has been spared the impact of the pandemic but the hardest hit is the tourism sector.
The situation is such that the tourism sector is presently tottering and needs immediate relief measures from the Government for survival. Otherwise, the sector which contributes almost 9 percent to the GDP of the country may collapse and put millions of jobs at risk.
