New Delhi, Nov 14 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed senior apex court lawyer Kamini Jaiswal's petition seeking a SIT probe in the alleged bribery case in a medical college admission scam matter involving a SC judge.
"The petition was contemptuous, but we are not passing any order against the petitioner," a three-judge bench of the apex court, headed by Justice RK Aggarwal, said in its order.
Jaiswal sought a SIT probe in the alleged bribery case in a medical college admission scam matter involving a SC judge.
The apex court, while dismissing the PIL of Jaiswal, said, "We are not above law but due process must follow. No FIR can be lodged against a judge by judicial order".
The top court also said in its order because of this unverified and unsubstantiated charges levelled by senior counsel, a doubt was cast on this great institution.
The three-judge bench also said the senior lawyers of the apex court made irresponsible allegations against the Chief Justice of India (CJI) without even doing the very basic verification of facts from the FIR.
