Delhi set to receive Kisan Rail from Anantapur, fruit bowl of AP

New Delhi, Sep 9 (UNI) Delhi is all set to receive Kisan Rail with South India’s first "Kisan Rail" being flagged off from Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh to Adarsh Nagar in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Anantapur, from where the train originates, is fast becoming the Fruit Bowl of Andhra Pradesh. More than 80 per cent of the 58 lakh MT of fruits and vegetables in the district, is marketed out of the state, particularly to the north Indian states of Delhi, UP, Punjab and Haryana among others. The rake of newly-introduced Kisan Rail is loaded with 14 parcel vans – four vans load meant for Nagpur and another 10 vans load for Adarsh Nagar totalling 332 tonnes.
The inaugural Kisan Rail has been loaded with tomatoes, bananas, sweet oranges, papaya, muskmelons and mangoes.The train provides fast transport connectivity between Anantapur to New Delhi with the distance of 2,150 Km being covered in approximately 40 hours.
