New Delhi, June 23 (UNI) Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his alleged failure to fulfil a promise to build a multi speciality hospital in Odisha.
Taking to social media, Rahul , posting a video in which the PM is seen promising a super speciality hospital to the people of Odisha, said, 'On 1st April, 2015 the PM played an April Fools' day joke on the people of Orissa, as seen in this video. In the link, the Congress said that Odisha-resident Muktikant Biswal walked 1,350 km to Delhi to remind Prime Minister Modi of his poll promise.
'A 30-year-old man from Odisha has already walked a staggering 1,350 kilometre to remind Prime Minister Narendra Modi of a promise he had made to the people of his village in Rourkela.
On April 1, 2015, (Yes, April Fool's day!) Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a super speciality hospital during his first visit to Odisha after he became the Prime Minister . These were still early days for Mr Modi in office and the people of Odisha believed him. But things did not move on the ground and not a single patient has received any treatment yet.
Now, after waiting for three full years, Muktikanta Biswal decided to do something about this. He picked up the Indian flag, and started his march from Odisha to Delhi to remind the PM about his forgotten promise, 'the Congress said.
'But here is the challenge. There is a very strong chance that Biswal will hear the same answer that millions of us have heard over the last 4 years - that it was a Jumla - just a figure of speech . He will be given another date, another promise and assurances. He might then go back to Odisha and then the whole issue will die again. But it doesn’t need to be that way. We, the people can make up for this betrayal.
We can show him that there is still hope and we as a country are ready to support each other, even if our PM doesn't.
If a few thousand Citizens could contribute even 100 rupees each, we will be able to raise enough money to take care of the infrastructure needed for the Rourkela hospital. Let's collect this money and hand it over to the authorities to initiate the work.
Villagers of Rourkela have been suffering everyday in Biswal's village because of inadequate medical facilities .' the Congress said.
