New Delhi, Sep 15 (UNI) The Rajya Sabha on Monday passed the Government resolution not to take up the 'Question Hour' and Private Member Bill during the ongoing Monsoon Session, by voice vote.
While tabling the proposal, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi said that in the wake of Novel Coronavirus pandemic, the Government proposed to not taking up the Question Hour and the Private Member Bill, to which All India Trinamool Congress member Derek O' Brian put an amendment, but it was rejected by the voice vote.
Advocating the need for both Parliamentary processes, the AITC lawmaker said that many important issues related to the public interest get resolved and this also fixes up the responsibility of the Government.
Leader of the Opposition Gulam Nabi Azad said the Question Hour was the fundamental part of Parliamentary system and the Government policies were brought to the public view, which should be continued.
Intervening in the matter, Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu said that this arrangement has been made to reduce crowd in the House and now, the Government officials would not come to the House.
