New Delhi, Mar 27 (UNI) Railway Minster Suresh Prabhu today stressed on complete digitalisation of Indian Railways and said that there was a need for a holistic approach for digitalisation of the national transport in partnership with IT industry so that Railways and vendors can benefit mutually. "It will be a turnaround situation and a game changer if Railways can save six Billion dollar by investing two billion dollar," he said. Mr Prabhu said there were two models for digital platform -- capex platform, opex model adding that there could also be a third model where Cris and vendor may partner together. The Minister also cautioned about keeping in mind the "cyber security". Mr Prabhu was speaking after inaugurating a conference under the theme IR-One ICT (One Information and Communication Technology) Building Digital Railway for Digital India here. Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain and other senior officials were present on the occasion. Appreciating the work taken up by the Railways, Mr Prabhu said the organisation does lot of activities in different spheres like medical, education, social and environmental. Leading speakers on various subjects from India and abroad also spoke on spectrum of topics including Dr Rainer Lukhaup from Deutsche Bahn and Salana McElory from G E. During the conference a panel discussion on Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for ICT deployment was chaired by Rentala Chandrashkher, President of NASSCOM. UNI RBE ADG 2026
