Govt objective is to weaken farmers, labourers: Rahul

New Delhi, Sep 29(UNI) Continuing his attack on the NDA government at the Centre on the farm sector bills passed in Parliament last week, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that there was not much difference between the three legislations and Demonetisation and GST brought by this government and that the objective of the government of bringing these bills is to weaken the farmers and the labourers.

In a virtual dialogue 'Kisaan Ki baat' with farmers, Rahul Gandhi said that it was necessary to oppose these Bills to secure the future of the country .

Terming the farm bills as being akin to the decision of the BJP government to announce demonetisation and its faulty implementation of the GST, Rahul Gandhi said, ' Farmers and labourers are the backbone of the country and the objective of the Modi government is to break this backbone. like demonetisation and the GST, the objective of these three laws is also to weaken the farmers and the labourers.

It is necessary to oppose the farm bills not just to secure future of farmers but also to secure the future of the country. '

Mr Gandhi said that at the time of announcing demonetisation it was said that it is a fight against black money.

'It was all a lie. The real objective was to weaken the farmers and the labourer. Thereafter, GST was implemented which too had the same objective,' he said.

He said that even during the Covid pandemic, farmers, labourers and poor were not given any financial assistance.

'Only a few industrialists were benefitted during the Covid pandemic. Despite the fact that income of farmer decreased during the Covid crisis, they were not given any financial assistance,' Mr Gandhi said.

The interaction, which took place virtually, was attended by farmers from states like Punjab, Haryana, Bihar, Maharashtra and Delhi .
