New Delhi, Jul 14(UNI) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said the total number of coronavirus cases in the country will cross the figure of 10 lakh this week.
"This week, the figure of 10,00,000 (Corona virus cases) will be crossed in our country," Mr Gandhi said in a tweet.
Mr Gandhi also posted on his Twitter account a news report which quoted the WHO chief as saying that if concrete steps were not taken, the coronavirus situation in the world would turn from bad to worse.
He had, on Monday, taken a jibe at Home Minister Amit Shah's statement that India is in a "good position" in the battle against Coronavirus.
The Congress has been critical of the NDA government handling of the Covid situation in the country.
India's COVID-19 tally crossed nine lakh on Tuesday with 28,498 fresh cases recorded in the previous 24 hours, the Health Ministry data said.
The total number of Coronavirus cases in the country reached 9,06,752 .
The death toll from the Corona virus infection rose to 23,727 .
