New Delhi, Aug 23 (UNI) Congress on Monday said the National Monetisation Policy, set to be launched by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today, is made "to sell the country".
"There was a time when they used to make the wealth of the country… And..Today a program to sell the country is being made. If Modi is there then this is possible," Congress Spokesman Randeep Singh Surjewala said in a tweet.
The Union Budget 2021-22 laid emphasis on asset monetisation as a means to raise innovative and alternative financing for infrastructure and included a number of key announcements.
The monetisation scheme comprises a four-year pipeline of the Central Government's brownfield infrastructure assets.
Besides providing visibility to investors, NMP will also serve as a medium-term road map for the asset monetisation initiative of the government.
