New Delhi, Nov 26 (UNI) Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his statements, that the 'Constitution is sacred', former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on Tuesday said that "the proof of the pudding is in the eating" and maintained that the constitutional norms are not safe in the hands of the present regime.
Responding to a question on Mr Modi's remarks on Constitution, Mr Singh said, "Well, I think the proof of the pudding is in the eating. The way the central government has behaved in Maharashtra, it is not certain that constitutional norms are safe in the hands of present establishment".
The former Prime Minister also said that the Supreme Court order to conduct a floor test in Maharashtra assembly "has to be respected".
