DSGMC demands action against those who ill-treated Sikh jawan in Kolkata

New Delhi, Oct 10 (UNI) Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Majinder Singh Sirsa and General Secretary Harmeet Singh Kalka on Saturday condemned the alleged assault inflicted on a Sikh CAPF Jawan Balvinder SIngh by the Kolkata Police.
The two Sikh leaders have demanded immediate action against the police personnel responsible behind the incident for disrespecting the Sikh para military personnel's Turban and hair, and immediate release of the Mr Singh.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday Mr Sirsa told reporters that it was three days ago that Kolkata Police personnel allegedly attacked Singh in a very shameful manner.
He said that the Sikh man's turban was taken-off and he was publicly beaten up and was dragged by his hair.
Sirsa informed that Mr Singh is a CAPF Jawan and has also served with the NSG. He further said that Kolkata Police has attacked and registered a case against him, a country's soldier who has served the nation.
Singh has been kept in the lock-up, Sirsa added.
The two Sikh leaders further informed that DSGMC and the Shiromani Akali Dal have appealed to the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerji for immediate release of Mr Singh and further demanded action against the police personnel who were behind attacking Singh, and register a case against them under section 295 A.
The leaders warned that they will take to streets if the demands are not fulfilled.
