Govt should pay GST dues to states: Congress

New Delhi, Aug 25 (UNI) The Congress on Tuesday hit-out at the Centre over the long due Goods and Services Tax , that the government owes to the states, due to which the financial situation in the states has gone awry during the present times.
Speaking to the reporters here, Congress leaders including the Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Badal, Karnataka Congress leader Krishna V Gowda said that the GST council meeting is to take place in two days, and the finance ministers of the Congress ruled states will demand the centre to pay the pending GST to the states.
They said that not only the Congress ruled states, but, the states with the BJP governments have been facing difficulties due to the GST amount not being transferred to them, and therefore the government must return the dues in view of the federal concept.
